Performance of The Nutcracker On Friday, December 9th, Secaucus Middle School students were treated to a beautiful performance of The Nutcracker Suite by (the very talented students of) The Garden State Ballet Company.
The American Dream Secaucus Middle School Students in Megan Jones and Aneta Kapusnik's classes collaborated to create a collage to express their own version of the American Dream. Throughout this unit, students applied their knowledge of American principles found in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. They did this by investigating quotes, songs and literature about the American Dream. Students are also conducting interviews to assess how the American Dream has changed over time and writing an analytical essay.
Builders Club Toy Drive Contest The SMS Builders Club will be hosting a Toy Drive Contest for all grades. The class that brings in the most toys per student will win a Donut Party!!!
Students of the Month for November Students each month at SMS are nominated by a teacher or staff member based on their good character. Last month, we honored the month of respect. For November, we are representing the characteristic of responsibility. Every nomination is put into a jar and a winner from each grade is randomly chosen to receive a certificate and displayed on our announcement wall. At the end of the year, all winners and nominations will be given a reward. This month's winners are: 6th grade-Aarti Advani, 7th grade-Athanasia Chandras, and 8th grade-Zarrar Nawaz.

Builder's Club Food Drive The SMS Builder's Club is running a food drive which will be donated to the Secaucus Food Pantry.
Environmental Club Continues Paper Recycling Program A few members of the Secaucus Middle School Environmental Club are shown with the three new recycling bins they purchased through fundraising efforts. The Environmental Club is responsible for the Middle School's paper recycling program and it has recycled more than 15,000 pounds of paper since it began doing so in 2010.
