National Junior Honor Society (NJHS)

The purpose of the National Junior Honor Society is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, to develop character, and to encourage citizenship.  The National Junior Honor Society serves as an excellent training ground for the youth who will serve as the leaders of tomorrow.  Society is acknowledged by many for its high standards of scholarship, leadership, character, service, and citizenship - ideals that convey important values for responsible youth.  Today, when technology presents ever more challenging decisions for our citizens, these ideals take on increased significance.

Students must have a cumulative GPA of 4.300 or better at completion of the second marking period (for those who were inducted in the spring) to be academically eligible. These students have met the scholarship requirement however, all four characteristics are used to determine membership. Each academically eligible candidate will receive a notice to apply and a deadline by which to do so. Students are required to submit a resume which outlines service and leadership during middle school years and a personal statement explaining how they believe that they exemplify the four characteristics of the National Junior Honor Society. The faculty council of the National Junior Honor Society reviews all applications and determines who will be given membership.
