PLEASE JOIN US FOR OUR ANNUAL SMS STEM NIGHT Join us for our inaugural SMS STEM Night! It will take place in the SMS/SHS dining hall on Wednesday, April 18th from 6:30-8 PM. Sign in will begin at 6 PM and guests should enter the school through the high school side. All STEM students’ projects will be on display and there will be a live engineering design challenge with prizes for the winning team! Students and teams must register with the permission slip by Wednesday, April 11th and all students and teams must be accompanied by at least one adult. Snacks and refreshments will be provided. National School Walkout Day In honor of the #NationalSchoolWalkout on March 14, 2018, Secaucus Middle School and Secaucus High School took to the football field to create a message for the students and faculty at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. An aerial photograph of students and staff standing side by side to form the word “HOPE” will be sent to Parkland, Florida, as a symbol of support. Superintendent of Schools, Jennifer Montesano said, “It is our wish that this picture will serve as a reminder that students in Secaucus, New Jersey are sending their love and hope that tragedies like this will never happen again.” #ENOUGH
SMS SGO VOLUNTEERS AT ST. PATRICK’S DAY CHILDREN’S EVENT During the afternoon of Saturday March 10th, students from the Secaucus Middle School SGO, under the direction of Ms. Palmisano, assisted at the St. Patrick’s Day Children’s Event coordinated by the town of Secaucus. The event, which was held at the Recreation Center, had activities for the young children of the town. Members of the SGO assisted with each activity station and helped the children create crafts, learn Irish Step Dancing, and decorate their own cupcake. Pictured are some of the students volunteering their time. Ms. Sue Flanagan, Events Coordinator for the Town of Secaucus, expresses her gratitude for all the student help. Ms. Palmisano would like to thank every participant from the SGO who volunteered their time & encourages all to continue being leaders of our school.
