It is with great pride and excitement that I introduce myself, Christine Candela, as the new Principal of Secaucus Middle School. I have served the Secaucus School District for over 17 years, first as a teacher and then as a supervisor. Before I came to Secaucus, I did my junior practicum and student teaching at The College of New Jersey in two different middle schools. In 2001, I was hired for the middle school to teach language arts. I received my tenure in the middle school, and came to find that it was my favorite age group to teach. I love this town as much as if I had grown up in it. To now serve as the principal, in the very same school in which I began my teaching career, is not only a great honor, it feels like coming home.
As an educational leader for your children, my main goal will be to ensure that they develop all the necessary skills with which to succeed socially, emotionally, and academically. I hope to inspire all students to approach life with the desire and confidence to excel. I believe it is only when students feel confident in the skills they have mastered, that they transfer that confidence to future endeavors.
I will ensure that Secaucus Middle School is a positive, nurturing, and safe place for your children to come to each day. It will continue to be a place that provides rich academic experiences that are challenging, relevant, and help them build 21st century skills.
One of the most important aspects of my work as Principal of Secaucus Middle School is building meaningful relationships with students, families and teachers, as well as the community. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you have any questions, concerns, and ideas that you would like to discuss.
